Venice Art House is pleased to announce the international collective exhibition of contemporary art Behind The Mask curated by Andrea Chinellato with the collaboration of It’s Liquid Group – Intenational Art Expo. The exhibition, from 4th to 24th February 2016, is part of the Carnival of Venice’ events and it has as its purpose the investigation of the relationship of fiction and reality, between the mask and the Ego.

“Semel in anno licet insanire”
Behind The Mask includes Seneca’s expression “Semel in anno licet insanire” (“Once a year is permissible to go crazy”) because Carnival’s euphoria creeps through the streets of Venice and it allows to put aside occupations and to be able to break free, mocking neighbour wearing a mask, and to survive the continuous disillusionments and intuitions of reality. A mask to hide, reveal, taunt, mock, escape and find themselves. A disguise assumed to fight fear and weakness or to escape conventions and constraints? Once a year, behind a mask – as well as with Art constantly – is permissible ‘insanire’. Internationals artists will have to confront themselves to a hard theme, in a famous – also dangerous – venitian contect: the mask, “Venician simbol”, will be explorated in an original and alternative way.
